Current Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers keep the Mission running.
We have a big vision: Fighting homelessness, addiction and poverty in the Twin Cities.
And big needs: Each year, we serve over 200,000 hot meals and provide over 100,000 nights of shelter.
That is where you come in! We depend on faithful volunteers every day at Union Gospel Mission Twin Cities (UGMTC). Volunteers provide over 20,000 hours of service each year, making a measurable impact on the hundreds of guests and residents in our emergency shelter, programs and transitional housing.
Volunteers serve in nearly every UGMTC program. You can help serve hot meals, assist with children, deliver Thanksgiving meals, mentor residents, encourage others with unconditional love and compassion, and so much more.
WE NEED YOU!
We could not continue our life-transforming work without the generosity and care of the greater UGMTC family. Consider ways you can get involved today! Click Volunteer Application to get started.
When you give of your time and talent to UGMTC, you have the chance to:
- Gain new perspectives about social concerns
- Grow in self-confidence as you enhance or gain new skills
- Network with others who share your values
- Share your skills and expertise with others
- Gain a sense of purpose
- Help address homelessness in holistic ways
We know connecting with a homeless shelter can be intimidating. We love the opportunity to break myths about homelessness as you serve our guests and residents.
SERVING AS A GROUP
We make it easy for groups to serve together—from businesses to church groups, schools to service organizations! Click here to learn about our opportunities.
Union Gospel Mission Twin Cities (UGMTC) opened its doors to people experiencing hunger and homelessness in 1902. We welcome each person who comes to us in a time of crisis with dignity and compassion by caring for the whole person—body, mind and soul.
Our emergency shelter provides guests with food, shelter and vital care—including mental health services. Once immediate needs are met, our loving staff walk alongside residents for up to two years, providing Bible study, professional counseling, group therapy, education, mentorship, job-skills training and financial literacy instruction needed for the transition to independent living.
Please reach out to Volunteer Services at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions. We would love to have a conversation with you about getting involved!
